Mental Workout

In my opinion, the concept of a mental workout would include the efforts made to practice relaxation of the mind which could be yoga, breathing exercises, meditation, focusing on loving images, prayer, etc. Learning to shift the flow of blood to certain parts of our body and focusing on that body part is also beneficial for helping to reduce stress.

Training our mind and working it in our schedules is key to helping us achieve the kind of wellness we all want. It is kind of like brushing your teeth, taking a shower, doing all the rituals we do everyday.

I would like to leave with one word:

Focus

Loving Kindness Exercise

Hello All,

I liked this exercise but, was not totally focused on one person. I was more focused on some of the important people in my life as well as a friend who is going through some very tough times. I prayed for her. I envisioned being more loving to some very sweet little ones in my life too as well as my husband. I did breathe deep during this time and this helped me to stay more focused. Staying focused on one continual thought is still an ongoing learning experience for me but, I will not give up on it. I know it can only help!

I want to say one word for today:

Love

Keep it in mind and heart.

Hi All!!!

My wellness rating:

Physical Well Being: 7 out of 10
Spiritual Well Being: 7 out of 10
Psychological Well Being: 7 out of 10

I rated my self the same in all areas because I feel very good about my life, my physical fitness level and my psychological well being. They are all related to each other. I think if I could reach the optimal state of well being, I would have a 10 out of 10 and am not there yet.

My physical goals are to lose 5 pounds. I am not comfortable at this weight so, I am going to make an effort and combine more healthy vegetables and fruits into my diet and visualize weighing my goal weight and add 15 minutes to my work out.

My Spiritual Goal is to pray more. I believe in the power of prayer and don't pray enough.

My psychological goal is to continue to work on my reaction to thoughtless people on the roads who text and drive and who are rude. This is an ongoing goal for me.

CRIME OF THE CENTURY
I enjoyed this and really did not have a problem staying focused too much which is a nice change for me. I can definitely see how easy it would be to be hypnotized. I am very relaxed currently because I just completed the exercise! Whew!

Relaxation Exercise

Being home from work sick today gave me the opportunity to listen to the relaxation exercise with my laptop on my "lap"! Not feeling the best, I wish I could have "suggested" my sickness away but, I did do this exercise and felt very relaxed. When I made the effort to try and lift my arms, they really did want to stay put. I did find my self occassionally opening my eyes but, I do think with practice, this type of relaxation exercise truly works.
